He lies there,
Quiet and peaceful
Not a hint of stress upon his relaxed face.
The light flittering in,
Creating patterns across him as he slept,
Giving him the illusion of youth
I kept thinking,
Remembering, all that we had shared together
****
Our first kiss,
Soft, yet more powerful than any before
The way my heart beat a fast rhythm
Of love and hope
How he held me in that kiss,
Was as a child clinging to their parent,
Yet filled with endless passion
****
This wonderful,
Never-forgotten memory,
Brought a smile to my now characterized face
I looked down upon him one last time,
Before I too
Laid beside him,
Closed my eyes one last time…
